I have never actually discussed the film with anyone though. After reading your review I asked myself why I had made that assumption.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;I believe it comes down to the circumstance of my first viewing it which was in grade school in Canada in the mid 1960's. The teachers got hold of what must have been a 16mm print and screened it for us.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;So having first been made aware of The 39 Steps in an academic setting, I naturally assumed it was a classic. Rewatching it since has not changed my mind in that regard.
